LOVE THEM THROUGH IT

TUESDAY OF THE FIFTH WEEK OF EASTER

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.

I see it. I see the worry, the uncertainty, the anxiety.

We are all on different paths with this virus—some fear for their health, some fear for their financial ruin. Some states are still under stay-at-home orders, while other states and counties act like the virus is of no concern. I haven't been focusing on the virus purposefully, because you get enough of that elsewhere. But today, I have a couple of things to say.

First, Peace. May the Peace of Christ fill your hearts. Do not be anxious or afraid. That goes for illness, money, death. Worrying will not make the virus go away or stores open. Be at peace; the Lord is with you. He will not leave you in times of trouble.

Second, Charity. Love one another. Some people are afraid. Love them through it. Some people are angry. Love them through it. Some people are tired. Love them through it. Some people are hurting. Love them through it.

Third, Prayer. Rely on the words of the Lord. When the Word dwells within us, we become more like Him for others. Spend time with Jesus, invite Him into the deepest, darkest parts of your heart, and allow Him to illuminate those spaces with His wonderful light. If we see as the world sees, we will lack the compassion that is so greatly needed right now.

Lastly, Hope. My hope isn't in a vaccine, a cure, or a stimulus package. My Hope is in the Lord. Remember the words of our Lord,

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.

May the Peace of Christ be with you. Amen.
