COME, HOLY SPIRIT, COME

PENTECOST SUNDAY

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of the faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit, and they shall be created. And you shalt renew the face of the earth.

Come, Holy Spirit. The power of the Holy Spirit shines a divine ray of light upon us. The Spirit of truth dwelling within us heals our wounds, refreshes, and washes clean our souls, melts the frozen heart, and guides steps that have gone astray. Come, Holy Spirit.

Jesus says to the disciples,

"Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you." And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit." John 20:21-22

Receive the Holy Spirit. If we wish to be closer in communion with God and want to be part of the body of Christ, we must receive the Spirit. Today's verse from the first letter of St. Paul says, "No one can say, 'Jesus is Lord,' except by the Holy Spirit." Without the Spirit dwelling within us, we can do nothing, we have nothing, and our labors are fruitless. Receive the Holy Spirit.

Come, Holy Spirit. Be a welcome guest in my soul. Fill my heart with the fire of your love. Come, Holy Spirit, come!
