DAY 18: THE MISSAL (Part 3 of 3)

Many Catholics, including myself, like to use a missal to follow along during the Holy Mass. The missal is the book that contains the prayers, chants, readings, and instructions for the celebration of Mass in the Roman Catholic Rite.

My Daily Roman Missal has the Order of Mass, all of the cycles of readings for the daily and Sunday Masses and a special section of devotions and prayers. When I can't be at Mass, like so many people might be facing today, I can read through the daily readings, pray the prayers of the Mass and make a spiritual communion.

The Constitution of the Sacred Liturgy encourages us to "desire to live and pray every day in the spirit of the liturgy." The missal is a guide to help us in our spiritual journey, walking us through the liturgical calendar with readings from the lectionary. #livinglent2
